钢琴家希普林卡萨利斯 Cyprien Katsaris

 

One of the most distinctive pianists of the present day, a towering figure of the 20th century, and a pianist like no other, Cyprien Katsaris continues to amaze, energize and delight audiences around the globe.  His 2017 tour of China will be his fourteenth venture to this country since 2006. And the inclusion of his recent transcription of the Beethoven Piano Concerto for solo piano, promises to make this his most audacious and revered tour yet.  Come and see a living legend!

Cyprien was born in France and studied at the Paris Conservatoire.  He won First Prize in the International Cziffra Competition (Versailles 1974) and was the only Western-European prize-winner at the 1972 Queen Elisabeth of Belgium International Competition.

His major international career includes performances with the world’s greatest orchestras, most notably The Berlin Philharmonic, Staatskapelle Dresden, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Cleveland Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra Washington D.C., Detroit Symphony, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Toronto Symphony, The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, The NHK Symphony Orchestra (Tokyo), Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, Milan RAI Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, among many, many more.   

He has collaborated with a who’s who list of conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Mstislav Rostropovich, Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Simon Rattle, Myung Whun Chung, Christoph von Dohnányi, Charles Dutoit, Antal Doráti, Kurt Masur, Eliahu Inbal, Ivan Fischer, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Kent Nagano, James Conlon, Sir Charles Mackerras, Rudolf Barshai, Sandor Végh, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Leif Segerstam, Dmitri Kitajenko, Andrey Boreyko, Christopher Warren-Green, Zdenek Mácal and Karl Münchinger, among many other equally famous names.

Mr. Katsaris’ legendary recording career included lengthy collaborations with Teldec, Sony Classical, EMI, Deutsche Grammophon, BMG-RCA, Decca and Pavane (some 60 albums) before starting his own label, PIANO 21, with which he has released over 40 albums and four DVDs alone since the year 2000.  His numerous accolades include the Grand Prix du Disque Frédéric Chopin, Warsaw 1985; Grand Prix du Disque Franz Liszt, Budapest 1984 and 1989; British Music Retailers Association’s Award 1986; and the Record of the Year 1984, Germany, for the 9th Symphony of Beethoven/Liszt. His exemplary recording achievements include recordings of the complete Beethoven Symphonies for solo piano (Liszt transcriptions), the complete Mozart Concertos, Beethoven’s own piano arrangement of his ballet The Creatures of Prometheus, Gustav Mahler’s original piano version of Das Lied von der Erde with Mezzo Brigitte Fassbaender and Tenor Thomas Moser, the long lost Liszt/Tchaikovsky Concerto in the Hungarian style with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and his famous Frédéric Chopin recital, performed on the day of his 150th death Anniversary Chopin recital in Carnegie Hall. New York concertgoers offered him a standing ovation for this performance, which has been preserved (audio and video) and issued on the PIANO 21 label.

His association with lost and unusual works is a towering contribution to the world of piano literature, and it stems from his absolute kinship all things pianistic. 

Cyprien Katsaris is mentioned in many distinguished reference books on music and the piano. He has adjudicated some of the world’s greatest piano competitions.  He has conducted master classes at prestigious conservatories.  He was the artistic director of the Echternach Festival for 30 years.  Awards include “Artist of UNESCO for Peace” (1997), “Commandeur de l’Ordre de Mérite du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg” (2009) and “Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters” (France 2000). He also received the “Médaille Vermeil de la Ville de Paris” (2001) and the “Nemitsas Prize” (Cyprus, 2011). He is a member of ADAP, the Association of Artists for Peace and Honorary President of “Lisztomanias International”.

世界著名的李斯特权威演奏家希普林呈现出一套与其他李斯特年钢琴音乐会不同的曲目。其中包括：1）李斯特的音乐 2）李斯特改编的音乐作品3）受李斯特影响和启发的其他作曲家的作品。曲目本身就是灵感闪现的产物。具体如下：
