Roman Kim, Violin
(BEIJING, 6 August 2015) Maxima Artist Management Ltd in association with Beijing Concert Hall is proud to announce the Chinese debut of violin super virtuoso and music sensation Roman Kim on 20 November 2015 in Beijing Concert Hall. Kim will be joined by leading Chinese accompanist Zhang Weicong.
The 23-year-old from Kazakhstan -- of Korean heritage, and now living in Cologne – possesses an astonishing technique, superb musicality, and playing of intense energy and excitement. But he is also known for following in the footsteps of both Paganini and Jimi Hendrix by composing his own music and developing new techniques for his instrument.
Roman Kim has been winning national and international competitions since the age of 7 and thrilling audiences in major halls in Russia, Western Europe and South Korea. Study with Victor Tretjakov and master classes with Vengerov, Midori, and Gidon Kremer rounded his education. His debut in the Cologne Philharmonie (Paganini Concerto no. 1) was called “witchcraft, which made the visitors of the Cologne Philharmonie jump from their chairs. ...No one else could create more varied sounds and extravagances in five minutes.”
"He mastered the pitfalls of the [extremely difficult 1st Violin Concert of Paganini] so nobly, that it was as if for him no technical difficulties existed. With huge tone and spotless intonation he did more than overcome the ubiquitous double-stops and sensitive overtones, the crazy runs and uncomfortably interspersed pizzicato sections: he mastered them…. The audience’s enthusiastic reaction was frenetic."
